brush issues PSE7

Does anyone ever have a problem with the brush tool in PSE7? My issue is that occasionally the cursor for the brush will not change sizes. The cursor stays as small as it possibly can. The brush size does change as represented in the size number, but if I can't tell where the brush is I can't very well use it. I sometimes have to actually restart my computer to fix this issue. Any ideas as to what might cause this or how I could fix it?

check whether caps lock is on - I used to have that problem and it was always cos I'd accidently hit caps lock!
