Default Russian Honour Guard

Honour Guard

Location: tomb of Unknown Soldier at the Kremlin
Camera : 450D
Settings:
1/180
F6.3
ISO:200
Lens : 55.0mm
No Flash
RAW format
The original image froze everything clearly without any blur

1. Boost the image blackness in Lightroom and apply a strong contrast in the curve levels.
2. In photoshop crop the image to a ¾ body shot.
3. Lowered the brightness.
4. Duplicate the layer twice(1,2). Deselected the background ( back up copy only)
5. Layer 1 – apply motion blur 20 pixels at zero angle. The idea is to create a slight effect of motion without losing too much detail.
6. Layer 2 – apply the high pass filter to sharpen the image at a radius of 4.5 pixels.
7. Layer 2 – turn it into a mask by erasing everything except the soldiers.
8. Overlay layer 2 on to layer 1 creating a little ghosting effect around the edges of the soldiers. Used blend mode normal
9. Flatten image and add frame

Improvements?: Could have blended the edges of the uniform a little better

I like the blur effect but the shadows/halos around them to me anyway draws away from the image...

Thank you all for your help but do we have a clear decision as to whether it should be one or both honour guard that fight?
