Default Logo Help

I've been messing around with this logo idea but having trouble getting it to look the way I want. Anyone care to offer some advice or just mess with it on your own? I think you can tell the idea I was going for. The font is Backslide Bold if that helps.

I like the idea of the shape of it, but I find the font too distracting, and it doesn't really say photography to me. I played with a square shape and something a bit more classic:

or graphic:

I don't know what other suggestions to make, but I would suggest simplifying your font but sticking with the shaped idea. And maybe add a little color

Thanks Kathryn. I like the look of the first one. Maybe logo wasn't the right term - I'm going to use this as a watermark in the corner of my concert images. So I don't know if I should go the color route or not. I do like the idea of bringing out my name though, that's neat.

EDIT: I think I found another free, simpler, font I'm going to try using - coolvetica. I was looking for helvetica earlier but apparently it's not free.

This is closer to what I wanted. This is just three pieces of wordart grouped together in microsoft word. I want the .COM to be in the shape of ERIC- reflected over a horizontal (so it will sort of be symmetrically shaped. Is there any way in GIMP to draw a shape and then fill the shape with text?

It definitely looks better with the simpler font.
