Question Need Photoshop Cs3 help???

I just got Photoshop Cs3 and I need some help on how to use it. So far I haven't figured much out accept how to adjust the histogram. Does anyone have suggestions on sites or books to learn from. I need "how to" step by step books. Sp far what I have found assumes you already know how to do other steps. I have not figured out how to open RAW files with it yet and can't find anything on it either. Any help or suggestions would be great. Thank you!

I use Photoshop CS3 as well. This site has a lot of great tutorials for Photoshop. I've learned quite a few techniques from reading those posts. Also, I have found a few other sites that provided some step-by-step instructions on different techniques. I'm at work at the moment, but I'll try and get you some links later.

As far as opening the RAW files in CS3, there are a couple different ways you can open the file.

Method 1:
> Launch CS3
> Double-click within the blank CS3 window to open the "Open File" dialog box
> Browse to the RAW file you want to open
> Double-click the RAW file you want to open

Method 2: (...assuming you use Microsoft Windows)
> Launch CS3
> In a Windows Browser window, browse to the RAW file you want to open
> Drag and drop the RAW file (from the Windows Browser window) into the CS3 window

Hope this helps!

EDIT: Note that opening the RAW file using the methods above will cause CS3 to open a window showing the image and all of the information attached to the RAW file. You can make all of your adjustments (if any) in that window, and when you are satisfied with your adjustments, you will have to click "Open Image" at the bottom of that window. Then you can start using Photoshop techniques.

EDIT 2: I was able to find a couple links (surprisingly, because they block a lot of sites here) on my lunch break. It looks like they are pretty good and show detailed instructions. I hope you find them useful. You may also want to take a look at the Help Contents and Index within CS3, and don't be afraid to use Google (or the search engine of your choice) on any specific tutorials you want.

Selective Coloring Tutorial: http://www.phototakers.com/articles/articles/33.html

The only con to the selective coloring tutorial is that he does not use any pictures along with the instructions. But, the instructions are fairly easy to follow.

Nate, Thank you for the sites and instructions on opening the raw file. I appreciate it very much. I will try them when I get home from work. Thanks again!

Below is a link to an online university where they have alot of courses. Unlimited monthly access. I signed up for one month access for $30 for the course on Photoshop Elements 6. Here is a link to a 9 hour course on CS3 that they offer...click on the FREE links at the site below to see some previews of the lessons to see if it's something worth the money for you. They have a few on CS3. This is NOT an affiliate link. I highly recommend it & I think it is well worth the cost. You can also buy it on DVD.

I'm more of a visual person. Great video lessons to actually see what they are doing.
