Wink Just another photoshop question..

I am trying so hard to master this PSE 7 but its hard

My client wants a black and white photo but 1 thing to stay in color. I took pregnancy photos for her and her boyfriend and we used blue booties. So I am going to put the photo black and white but how or where do I go to put the booties back to being BLUE

THANKS IN ADVANCE!
Christine

The easiest way is to duplicate you layer - turn the top layer B/W and then use your eraser and erase the booties and the blue will show through. After that the blue may seem too blue, so you can desaturate the original layer...

Do as private suggests, but use the pen tool to select the booties and inverting the selection to remove instead of using a brush or the eraser tool.

what I do is duplicate the layer, turn it black and white. select the "art history" brush and brush what you want to have color.

Here's the easy way to do it:

- To convert to Black & White then selectively colourize

New adjustment layer> Hue/Saturation
De-saturate
F7 (or click on layer mask)
Press ”D” or"X" to get black as foreground color
Click on brush tool
Brush over parts to colourize
Flatten/Save

Regards, Ken

You can also use a hue and saturation layer to only desaturate certain colours in the shot. This would leave all blue in the photo which would be an interesting effect.
