Default Can this image be "fixed?"

Hi - I would really appreciate some help. I took this image at today's graduation ceremony and it is blurry.

Can anyone help me salvage it? I don't really know how to use photoshop very well and have made no progress.

Class of 2009

Thanks so much.

Just so you know:
We want everyone to have fun and learn here at DPS. In order to insure that, there are some rules you need to follow when posting in the Critique sections:

Only ONE new critique request per day [/color](24 hour period) for ENTIRE critique section. Choose your image carefully.
Please post only ONE image in the thread. If you need to show more, link it to your set. If you post more than one, the other will be deleted at the moderators discretion.
Please keep images to 800px on the longest side. Mods reserve the right to resize oversize images or delete them until resized. This is easy to put up the proper size if you use flickr. If you feel it is necessary for us to see a larger size, link to it.
We strongly encourage the use of a photosharing site such as flickr, photobucket, zoomr, etc.
Please include the following information, if possible, with your image: EXIF info, type of camera, specific questions (What do you think? is not a specific question). A meaningful title, NOT "Critique Please", will also get your post noticed in a crowded section.
Only post if you are willing to be critiqued - this isn't a place for showing off, but a
place for people to suggest how you can improve. If you don't think you need to improve then this might not be the section of our forums for you.

I just moved your post over to the post-processing and printing section where most people ask for help with processing their photos.

It's always difficult to sharpen shots when they're out of focus, but you can try using High Pass Sharpening. It won't bring it all into focus, but it will help make at least the woman on the right look more in focus.

You cannot sharpen an out of focus image-you can resize image to a smaller dimension, then sharpen and hope for the best-but you will never get it perfect-What follows is the best I could do-I resized image to 350 pixels on longest side, and used this method to sharpen:

Ctrl+J
Unsharp mask amount 18%
Radius 40 pxls
Threshold 0
Unsharp mask amount 150%
Radius 0.3 pxls
Threshold 0
Edit> fade Unsharp mask 100% Darken
Unsharp mask amount 150%
Radius 0.3 pxls
Threshold 0
Edit> fade Unsharp mask 50% Lighten

Default Blur, b blur

I't is really hard to correct pics that are like this, Here is a sample using a few different sharpening proccesses, however the downside is that you end up with some thing that resembles more of a painting than a photo.

This might not be a downside if you just want a nice pic for memories.

Another possible way is to combine photos. If you took more than just that pics you might have one that is sharper that you could use to clone certain areas such as the face of the woman of the left. Hope that helps abit.

All the Best
Pete
