Default Fix this Shot

Blurry Cat

Hello all, first time posting for me...

this is a shot i took of one of my kittens, but she was quick and climbed my leg (claws + shorts = ouch!) so i missed the shot. The thing is, the shot stuck in my head, so i wish i could use it somehow, but i cant think of a way.

more kitten pictures (in focus this time): http://www.flickr.com/photos/9982207...7617088378145/

What do you guys tend to do with your throw-away shots, do you save them? Any ideas on how to fix/use this one?

EDIT: I was not looking for people to sharpen the kitten, i'm fairly certain that isn't possible, plus i have plenty of in-focus shots... The question was more along the lines of what do you do with a photo that is clearly not what was intended, but for one reason or another ends up looking interesting...

ps. OK to edit and repost the pic.

Unfortunately, when a shot is this out of focus, there's nothing you can do to fix it. Keep trying! Before you know it, you'll get a perfect one.

Edited to add: I took a look at your Flickr, and you've got some great ones there! What an adorable kitten.

There is no way you can sharpen that kitten, the pixels just aren't there.
edit: but it is a cute kitten.

Susan, thanks for your input.

I wasn't actually looking for people to try to sharpen the kitten, obviously that wouldn't work. Rather, i was interested in what people would do with it otherwise. I find that i end up throwing away so many shots to only keep the best ones, but sometimes there is charm in a missed shot, and i was curious as to what people thought or would do with this pic...

THanks for checking out my flickr, all the best.

I'd just bin it.

Honestly, there's nothing there of use, just toss it.

I'm not sure what I would do with it myself. But, you mentioned about it being a shot that stuck in your head, and that sometimes missed shots have a certain charm. It's probably an image that won't sell for thousands of dollars, but if it has that certain charm to you, keep it. Once deleted, it's gone. It could be one of those 'personal memory' shots that you'll get a laugh out of or will trigger memories somewhere down the road. It's your image. It's for you to decide, not someone else. This is one I took last night. Technically, it isn't great at all. If it was up for critique, it would be ripped apart. To others, it's just a dog and cat, but my wife and I know the meaning of it, and will enjoy seeing it years from now.

Watching and Waiting

I guess all I'm saying is that if it means something to you, keep it. Forget about the rest of us...

Honestly I don't see a purpose for the shot. However the kitten is so out of focus that it could be used as an artsy shot. If you feel like you should keep it then keep it, and if you feel like it is useless then throw it out. Or copy the raw (I always think everyone shoots in raw) or original file to a cd/dvd then you still have it and don't have to worry about it taking up space.

Generally, I'll throw them away. If something about the picture works but there are significant elements that detract from it I might try reshooting (if possible). Sometimes you can get amazing results via post-processing but, generally, the better the source image, the better the result.

What is it you really like about this picture?
