Welcome to DPS!! ^^

I use the curves when I do vintage effects, but I don't know how to help with the PhotoShop since I use GIMP (though I think they are similar..), but I think this discussion in Flickr might help.

Google is a friend also.

I love this effect..I'm a vintage junkie. It ain't hard to do, so once you've got it, have fun! ^^

Interesting. Hehe, that effect looks like the antithesis of an HDR photo.

You can download different vintage photoshop actions to get this effect.
Try: psdfan.com for some tutorials or just Google: photoshop actions.

I would try to find a tutorial that gives you the desired effect. Then once you got it down pat, you can turn it into an action for faster PP.

i believe it's called a bleach bypass effect.......originally, it was a darkroom technique and more recently has been used a bit in movies.....i tried looking for a suitable tutorial with google.....there's plenty of them out there.....i just had a hard time picking one out for you.....
