I'm using Paint Shop Pro X2 and when I open a canon raw image, it opens it with a default of 72 pixels per centimeter. The resolution then is not as good. Is there anyway to open the Raw image in maximun resolution, lets say 350 pixels per inch or something.
Looks like Photoshop Elements does not have this issue. |

To set General image preferences
1. Choose File Preferences File Format Preferences. The File Format Preferences dialog box appears. 2. Click the General tab. 3. Mark the Rotate images automatically upon opening using EXIF data check box to have photos taken in the portrait orientation open without you needing to rotate them. This option only applies to digital cameras that let you preview portrait mode photos without having to rotate the camera body. 4. Mark the Open Camera Raw images with Smart Photo Fix check box to automatically display this command dialog box on opening a raw camera image.

I tried what you suggest but the raw image still opens with 72.00 Pixals per cm. This does cause poor image quality. I contacted Corel on the issue and they said this is not a free support issue. With todays market I would think they would want to keep their customers...But you know Photo shop works great importing a raw image.

How about under preferences and - units you can set your default resolution

Yes I changed it there to. I really had not noticed it till I had a real black back ground. When I zoomed in tight, there was a little fading or lighter with more noise going on. I thought that was strange. When I used the canon tools to export the raw image to JPG the black was much daker and no noise. I then brought that in, and it was fine. When I checked pixels then, it was 350 per inch.
To see the pixel resolution on your imported RAW image, After you open the image go to Image > Image Information or Shift I Under Pixels per cm - mine is 72.000 I tried it with Adobe Elements and it asked the resolution I wanted it to be. Hope someone knows the answer. |
