Default New LightRoom 2 any hints welcome

I just got my first copy of lightroom 2 today and a book entitled Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 How-Tos 100 Essential Techniques. I am hoping that will be enough to get me started.

If anyone has any good hints for me ... please feel free to pass them along. I'm just sitting here playing tonight

I think sitting and playing with it is a great way to learn.

My tip for it would be to go through and create metadata presets that you can apply to your photos when you import them. I use this to add my name, website, email, and copyright notice.

I agree - try making a couple of virtual copies then try out different settings & use the 'Compare' function to view the results. Remember LR2 is non-destructive & just stores the settings in a database/catalog (back that up in addition to your photos). Above all ENJOY & don't see post production as a chore but as a vital part of the creative process.
