Default Printing PP work

I did the PP work on this photo with Photoshop Elements 5.0. I have two questions I hope someone can help me with. Is PE 6.0 and/or 7.0 so much better than 5.0 that it is worth the expense or should I be looking for another PP program? Also, have any of you ever printed this type of photo and if so, were you happy with the results?

Fort Dorchester 191 copy

Thanks

Without checking, I'm 99.9% sure that the oranges of the dirt won't print well. There's no ink that can reproduce that color intensity.
You could always just print a 10 cent copy and Walmart or wherever and see what you get.
In my experience though, images that are that heavily messed with don't print well.

Took this one to Wal Mart and had printed. Looks pretty good, even in the 8x10, but I don't think this would be for everyone. But my husband really liked it.

Over sharpened photos (especially with crazy halos) usually don't print well. You need to get it just right. I had this photo printed and the clouds came out ok but a bit too sharp when printed even though it looks OK online.

Os - for HDR photos, do you recommend getting them printed by a place like MPix or WHCC? Not that I've done any yet, but just good info to have for the future.

I had gotten mine printed locally by a specialized photo printer. Ive yet to use MPIX or any other online retailer for that kind of thing. My local guy(s) give me proofs before any work is done and i can always sign off on anything extra/altered.

Good to know, thanks. I think there might be a specialty printer like that around here.

Hardly a special printer. Any decent printshop (stationery, posters, etc) should be able to give you similar results. Building up a reputation with these people is also key.
