Default Need some advice from someone who is experienced in Photoshop Elements 6.0

Hi, I recently bought Photoshop Elements 6.0 off eBay. I need some help from someone who is experienced in it - I used to have Photoshop 7 (a few years ago), but I know mostly nothing about Elements.

I bought some templates to use for creating birth announcements. They're PSD files. I can open them, edit the layers, etc, but it said that it was easy to drop a photo into the layer where it was supposed to go, and so far I can't figure out how to do that unless I guess at the size of that layer and size down the photo. I'm thinking I'm missing something here and if anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks,
Sarah

all you do is drag and drop the photo onto your opened template. (not onto a new layer, just straight into the hole that SHOULD say "drag & drop photo here" ~ or something to that effect

it should then come up with little tabs for you to scale the image and move it with in the frame.

Thanks! I don't know what I was doing wrong last time, but I swear this is what I was trying to do and it would not work. Oh well, working now -

Also though if you have a minute, do you know how to add the fonts that came with the templates?

YUP.. UM,.. i may need to PM you the instructions when i get home.
the Gist of it is just past them in with all the other fonts in the ADOBE file called Fonts.

if you browse to ADOBE in Program FIles, search for FONT or FONTS, just paste the new fonts in that file, then open Elements as normal.
you can also get additional free fonts off DeviantArt.com.. some do like credit to be given, and some state not for commercial use

Actually, I think I know what you mean by this so don't worry about the PM though I really appreciate it. I really need to get to bed and make myself wait til tomorrow to work on this though. Thanks for the help, I'll reply back again tomorrow if I can't figure it out and need some more detailed instructions, but hopefully I'm good to go. So thanks!

Well, not so sure now. I found the Adobe folder under Program Files, then clicked on Photoshop Elements 6.0, and then the only folder I can find with "Fonts" is under PDFL, there's a "CMaps" & a "Fonts" file. So I pasted them in there, but when I open up the template, the font that's on there now still has a ! yellow warning sign that it will have to be substituted.

I tried exiting out of Photoshop & restarting after I pasted thinking they would be there when it reloaded, but it's not working yet....Any ideas?

Thanks!!
Sarah

Also wondering if anyone could tell me how to add new textures in Elements? Or maybe it would just be where the backgrounds are under Art? Thanks!!
