Unhappy My Awesome Friends dont look so hot :(

Hello fellow Photography lovers,
This photo was taken by a friend and I need some suggestions on how to make it look better using Photoshop. It was taken on a day when the sea spray was misty.

Looks like the sun was directly overhead when this shot was taken. Therefore looks a little washed out (correct term?) to me. Also curious as to why this was shot at ISO50 during the day.

You should be able to fix the exposure and light levels in Photoshop. More fixable if this was shot in RAW

I can see why you this was shot using a wide angle looking at the tall guy in the centre

Thanks for sharing

I am afraid that the exposure is so off here that you may not be able to do anything about it in pp, i did try and will post below so you can see what i was able to do, but their faces are very blured and i cant bring back the details in the shot. I would say reshoot on a better day, but i am sure after i post this someone will be able to tell you how to avoid the haze. There are filters, like haze filters and circular polarizors that will reduce it and also reduce the glare so you will get better colors and detail in this particular condition.
The%20Gang2b this was the best i could do, maybe someone else can edit it further to bring back some of the details

As opposed to what? The lowest I can go is 200.

Try using just a little fill flash next time. I assume the photo was pretty underexposed with the sun being in the background. I went into photoshop and used the curves to knock back the blacks, then went into color balance and added cyan and some blue to take away all the redness. Looks good on my laptop screen, not sure about anybody else'e monitor.

From the picture it looks more like sea fog than spray, also known as beach scum. It will coat everything in a scummy film. It happens around here sometimes during mid day with full sun, which looks like the situation you had to shoot in.

I've shot a lot during situations like this, and the shots always come out over exposed, and grainy looking. I think the sun reflecting off the fog plays havoc with your camera's meter system.

I don't think any kind of post work will give good results while shooting in these conditions.

I don't have PS, but here is a try in Gimp. I did some minor level adjustments and tweaked the curves; lightened the white end and brought the blacks back down a little. Also added a little bit of noise reduction and applied an unsharp mask to pull some of the detail back out. It isn't great, but I think it is usable. Anyway, it is the best I could do with the few minutes I had.

Opposed to 100 or 200 to get a faster shutter speed. Mine goes down to 100 but I leave it at 200 most of the time.

Was wondering if there was a technical reason why 50 was chosen thats all.

I'd say a bit of gamma correction would do the trick.

Try this,,

The example shown is more extreme than yours so it might work out for you.
