Lightroom has worked out very well for me. I start and organize everything from within lightroom now. It's very easy to jump into photoshop for using the layers and such and then jump back into lightroom.

I started with the Book "lightroom 2 book for Digital Photographer" written by Scott Kelby. That was a great help in learning the program and getting organized with my photos using keywords and database organization. If you start out with a plan and stick to it you can't go wrong. It's amazing what lightroom can do and I very seldom have to go to PS anymore.

Google for "lightroom tutorials" and you will find heaps of stuff, and most Lightroom sites users are like geek's - they eat, sleep, and breath it.

Default Lightroom.

I just got lightroom myself (less than 2 weeks ago) and have learned tons of stuff via itunes podcasts. They are free!

I rate LR2 - I started with LR1 beta & have used it since to both process RAW files & organise the jpegs from pre DSLR days. One feature I really like is the ability to make virtual copies; this enables me to compare 2 or 3 treatments of the same picture without taking up a lot of disk space. The none destructive edits are saved in the catalog database, it's only if you export all the versions that disk space becomes an issue. I find the ability to copy & paste the 'edits' to similar pictures in the same shoot saves a great deal of time.
