I am unsure of what pp software to start using. I currently have a copy of Photoshop7.0 installed that a friend gave me and I have NO CLUE on how to do a damn thing on it. What is the difference in my version, lightroom, elements, etc... And which have the easiest learning curve? I also downloaded Gimp which I really havent had time to explore but again I get really intimidated by this software.

Photoshop Elements 7 is very good and is more than enough if you are just starting out with working on your photographs. I use Elements 6 and it's excellent. I would advise you to look on Amazon for the many different reference books / training dvd's that are on there. It is also a lot of fun to just have a play with the different things and effects you can use. just remember that if you are not happy with an "End Result" then just don't save it. Adobe CS4 and Lightroom are very powerful editing packages and I would think too much to take on just yet. My humble advise is use Elements 7 and see how you like it.
