Default Anyone Use Photoshop CS2 for HDR? Help!

Hey, folks, I could use a hand before I throw a computer through the window

I am trying to do HDR for the first time and every time I try it I get a message that says "not enough dynamic range to make a good HDR image" or something close to that.

I am using one raw image that I have adjusted the EV multiple times to create multiple images. I have saved each as a separate file, I click "merge to HDR", I pick the other images (as many as 12, as few as 3), click "merge" and after what looks like a lot of progress going on, I get the message I stated above.

Any advice?

I downloaded qpfsgui to try that, but haven't figured it out yet. Photoshop seemed so much easier, but it doesn't work for me.

Thanks in advance!

-Eric

I think with photoshop if you use that method you need to use a program to strip the EXIF data from the images. If you are just trying to tonemap an image give Lucis Art a try or Photomatrix. They will be able to give you that HDR look from a single image with out going through all the loops of exporting a raw file with difference exposers selected (which doesn't actually give you any more detail that wasn't already present in one image).

To keep it even easier just use Image > Adjustments > Shadow / Highlight

This tool will give you a HDR look.

Thanks, folks, I kind of figured that my replies would be along the lines of "don't use photoshop."

Photoshop is great for alot of things: HDR isnt one of them.

To be honest, ive never done HDR with CS2 because I could never find a good tutorial for it. I found Photomatrix, plugged in a few images and played with the sliders and TADAA.
