Unhappy Printed images coming out too light

Hey everyone, I need some help with this. I hope I'm posting this in the right area of the forum.

After I've uploaded my photos and Photoshopped them to look exactly as I want to, sometimes when I print them, they look too light, almost overexposed. I'm not sure if I should adjust my monitor settings or what. I'm clueless what to do.

Any suggestions? Please feel free to ask me for any more details if that will help.

Thanks in advance!

You might try calibrating your monitor and double checking that your print set-up is exactly as the printer manual recommends.

Also, are you printing them, or are you sending them somewhere to be printed?

I've seen posts here about calibrating monitors, but I have no idea how to go about it. I've even googled "how to calibrate your monitor" but what I come up with is so technical, it's not very easy for me to understand. I need "Monitor Calibration for Dummies", lol!

I'm just printing a few of my own family shots on my own printer - not sending anything out just yet.
