Default Send to Flickr Uploadr from Adobe Bridge

Hope this is the correct section. Seemed like the most appropriate one to me...

Don't know how many people here use Adobe Bridge and Flickr, but I wrote a script for Adobe bridge that adds "send to flickr uploader" item to thumbnail right clicks and the open with submenu. It works with any files that Flickr Uploader 3.1.1 supports, and displays an alert for files that are unsupported and works with a single file or multiple selections.

Its setup for PCs, but should work with Macs with a simple change, but that is untested as I don't have a Mac with Adobe Bridge to test on. There is a file browser that opens if Flickr Uploadr isn't found at the default Windows path. This should work for Macs as well, and saves having to manually edit the script*.

Installation is easy.
Quote:
Download and unzip send2Flickr_v1.1.zip
Open Bridge
Edit -> Preferences
Choose "Startup Scripts" in CS3 or "General" in CS2 (don't know in CS4)
Click "Reveal"

Put the send2Flickr.jsx file in the folder that was opened when "reveal" was clicked, and restart Adobe Bridge .
If you like this, hate it, or find a problem with it, let me know.

Version History:
send2Flickr_v1.1.zip - Current Version
send2Flickr_v1.zip - Initial Version

Change Log:
v1.1
- Added file browser to select Flickr Uploadr application if installed in a non-default windows path. Should work for Macs as well.

*If the file browser is used to locate the Flickr Uploadr App, it saves a small configuration file with the path to the app.
● In Windows, %CommonProgramFiles% (by default, C:\Program Files\Common Files)
● In Mac OS,/Library/Application Support

THis is a great little script....im looking forward to trying it out. If it works correctly can be a real time saver.
Thanks for the post....im sure others will appreciate the convenience of it.
I have a mac so I'll give it a test for ya and let you know.....
Is this strictly a CS2-CS3 version? OR haven't tested with CS or other versions?
THis might be something Adobe would be intereseted in since so many people use flickr.

I've only tested it with CS2 and CS3 on Windows because those are the only versions that I have access to. I'd guess that the script will work with CS4, and it might work with CS.

and if you could test it on your mac, that'd be great. and if you could, post what version of CS you are running.

i doubt you are doing anything wrong. there must be something in the script that the mac version doesn't like. as to what that is, that could be tricky to figure out. there's nothing fundamentally different between the code that puts the menu item in "open with" and on the right click menu.

looking at the code, it should display an error if its not displaying on right-click. which it apparently isn't doing.

i may need to see if there is a demo version available for the mac to test on.

I know this is an old thread, but I've just tried your script on my Mac with ABridge CS5 and get the following error(See pics).

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

sorry for the delay, but I've been on vacation.

The script does work with Snow Leopard and CS5. Its what is running on my work computer.

that said, two things:

1. Start with the simple stuff...Is the Flickr Uploader program installed on your Mac?
2. Here is a quote from someone on the Flickr forums...

Quote:
wakisashi says:

It didn't work with bridge cs3 on Mac, but changing you scripts path to the app worked... (some reason when selecting the application through the finder window didn't work)

flickrPath = "/Applications/Flickr Uploadr.app";

Restarted bridge and everything worked...
in his case, it wasn't reading the config file that should have been created when the Flickr Uploadr app was selected the first time it was run, so he edited the send2Flickr.jsx to point to the Mac location, saved, and restarted Bridge and it worked for him.
