Another Newbie with Newbie questions

So, I have always loved photography, and now that I am have gotten laid off from my full time job, I have lots of time to pick up the camera again, and have have the vision of one day actually being able to make money at it. I have done some Christmas portrait sessions and a maternity session, so maybe I am on my way?!?
Anyway:
I have CS4, and I know there is a way to make "templates" for Christmas cards, birth announcements, weddings and so on. I have seen them for sell on ebay, but I have NO idea on even where to start. Is there a beginners guide to photoshop on here? as you can see, I am new and haven't learned the ins and outs.

Go to your local bookstore or library. They have tons of how to books. Even that Dummy's Guide to Photoshop is pretty good. All those various templates are made in Layers in Photoshop.
