    Default PaintShop Pro X5

    Hi,

I am on the verge of purchasing new photo editing software for my new laptop.

    I don't have much money to spend, i.e. $100 - $150, so I want to choose carefully.

I have read about the pros and cons of PS Elements 11 and LR4 right here on dPs.

Another option in my price range is Corel PaintShop Pro X5.

I have used Corel products before and found them to be very user friendly.

Does anyone have any experience using PaintShop Pro X5? In particular what are it's strengths and weaknesses as a photo editor.

    Thanks a bunch

I can't tell you much about Paintshop Pro X5 as I only used up to X3. I agree, it was very user friendly, more so than any of the Adobe products I currently use. X3 actually did more than Photoshop Elements and was easier and more intuitive than Lightroom for me. Biggest problem was the lack of help and information out there for it which is one of the reasons I made the jump to Photoshop. But if you are willing to deal with the lack of sources to help you, X5 can be a good choice. Keep your eye open for deals as you can often pick it up for a good price.

    Amazon
    for $39.88

Thanks Linda. At that price it's really a no-brainer. I can afford both PaintShop and PSE 11.
