Thanks Glad to help if I can. I don't guarantee I'm 100% factually accurate (there are definitely things I still don't fully understand), but as far as I do understand it, that's how it all fits.

Haha, I can totally relate, I'm the same way. I have to understand something down to the most minute details to be satisfied that I know enough about it.

It can be a curse sometimes, but sometimes it helps others when i am able to explain what i have learned to others. I am gonna give myself another couple of days on this and maybe write some notes, then onto the next thing i think. Cheers for putting me on the right path !

You're welcome! Best of luck in your research on this, it's an interesting subject for sure.

I agree, it can be kind of a curse at times, but in the end I think more knowledge is always a good thing, even if you never really use it.

I havent read through all the replys on this thread but in short a simple answer for me is to; open a raw photo and check the histogram in say srgb then switch to Prophoto or Adobe rgb. In this way you can bring the image back into the gamut without using adjustments and you can now 'convert' the image back to srgb keeping the image in gamut. So yes their are benefits but they may at times be small.
