Careful selective cloning. Obviously, it's best to avoid it when you take the shot. Sometimes a slight tilt on the glasses by lifting them up a little off the ears will alleviate this problem. Another solution, but not always the most practical, is to use an old pair of glasses with the lenses removed

There's no easy, general way to remove specular reflections in post. If the reflection isn't too unfortunately placed and you're good with cloning, you can remove them with varying degrees of difficulty, but there's just not enough information there to use an easy technique.

As to removing them in camera, I would not recommend using glasses without lenses. That technique will probably look OK to you, but to people who know the subject, it will look odd.

Specular reflections are like playing pool/billiards with light. Change the angle the light comes in and you change the angle it goes out. Just move your lights until you no longer have a specular reflection that hits your camera lens (moving the lights up or down often helps) and you're fine.

+1 on this. If you get glare, besides cloning you can select the other eye, copy to another level, flip it horizontally and place it over the offending eye. This does not really work in portraits, as the face it usually too large and the results look off, but in group photos, where the face is relatively small, I have not had any one catch this trick.
