Default Remove holding wax from ring photo

My first post. Hello all!

I have been taking jewelry photos for almost a year now but I am still stumped when it comes to doing some delicate Photoshop work.

How do I cleanly remove any wax that shows at the bottom of the ring shank in this picture without disturbing the reflection?

Is there a simple/good way versus a complicated/great way?
Plugin?
Action?

Thank you so much!

Adam

You will have to make separate layers for the ring and the reflection. Then rebuild the sections that the wax covers. Then position the layers appropriately. There is no quick and dirty way to get it done that I know of. Never cover anything you are not willing to fix later.

fairly easy way would be to select the lower half portion of the ring either by magic wand with some touch up or the lasso tool or the pen tool, which ever you are comfortable with. put this in another layer and flip vertically. go back to the original layer and with a sharp brush paint with white the reflection and the wax. then align the flipped lower part and reduce the opacity. if you have shar eyes, you will notice that this is fake reflection

Now that is a great idea!

Thank you for the suggestions.

Not that I know of. This is a technique I learned the hard way. I will say the clone stamp goes a very long ways.
