Default Black and White Film Processing

I shot a roll of black and white film this weekend and am now looking for a place to have it processed. The local places I used back in the day are color only, not processing film period, or just plain gone. I just want the negatives along with a CD of JPEGS. I have a found a few places on-line but have no idea which one to try.

If you have shot some BW film recently and have a place you like for processing (or don't like), please let me know. All leads are very much appreciated.

You can process it yourself, or google a photographer near your area, who is still processing B&W, if none of the commercial places want to do it.

This is why I gave up on film six years ago...

B&W film has pretty much become a "do it yourself" business, for photographers who want to play in the darkroom. You could shoot a C-41 process chromogenic B&W film like Kodak T400CN or Ilford XP2, but then the lab will probably print onto color paper rather than B&W paper. MPix can do C-41 to Ilford B&W paper.

I think maybe Dwayne's in Parsons, Kansas, can handle it for you. They were the last place in the world that still processed Kodachrome, until they shut down their machines at the end of last year.

Unless you're going to set up your own darkroom, I suggest you shoot digital in the future. Harsh, but realistic.

You can try Connecticut Photographics..1-800-CTPHOTO. Mark or Liz should be able to help you. Tell them Vinnie sent you...I believe they're still processing B/W film..it was their specialty a few years back

Thanks Tito87. I have tried only a few photographers that I know and so far no luck. I may try a few more and see if I cant get lucky. Someone around here is bound to have a darkroom in their basement.

Well that would certainly make life easier. I'm gonna try that next time.

I know I know, I was just feeling nostalgic the other day and had a roll of film to use up, so I did. Gotta say it was fun despite the manual focus and constant winding and the lack of instant results and ...

Man, you guys must have TERRIBLE photo supply stores. I've got a 2 very good, reputable, flexible and inexpensive options right in town, and thats only because Ive already dealt with them: there are more that I haven't dealt with.

Yep, terrible. The lab I use for my digital prints just quit processing film a few years back (can still get prints from film though). There is one other commercial place in town but I don't trust them enough to even ask about black and white (they ruined some of my stuff awhile back.) I even called a few commercial places in neighboring towns but no luck so far. It's disappointing but at least I have got a few online options now.

Karen, you will not be unhappy with CT Photography..they are great people. Mark still does all of our giclees (fine art watercolor prints), and they are beautiful
