Default Files formatting incorrectly

I have been having an issue with picture files not being formatted correctly when I try to upload them from the memory card to the computer. I thought I had a bad card reader at first, so I replaced that. Then I switched memory cards after it happened again, but I'm still having the issue. I was able to upload my last batch of photos directly from the camera yesterday after a failed attempt via card reader...but when I emailed a few of the pics to a friend I was informed that the file extensions on half of the pics weren't jpeg and she couldn't open them. Any thoughts on what may be causing this to happen? All helpful advice greatly appreciated

Are you shooting in Raw+ mode so that the camera is saving the raw file as well as the jpeg? Then, half the photos would not be jpeg

It would be helpful to know exactly what the extensions of those photos were - I'm willing to bet that they are your camera's version of RAW files. You'll need to convert them to jpeg (or preferably TIFF) to be able to see them
