Default need some advice re calibrating new monitor

I am planning to buy an HP zr24w monitor. I want to buy a calibration device at the same time. I've asked this question various places with no responses.... Can anyone help???

First, any suggestions on which device is best with HP? (HP won't tell me.)

Second, does anyone think it's worth holding out (and putting out the extra bucks) for the new Colormunki assuming that new is better??

Thank you!

good question.

I'm not sure if there are any devices that work best with monitors, other than those special monitors that have a special unique calibration device.

I personally use a color-munki and it works very well, quite simple. It's software doesn't leave alot to customization - but it is supported by other software - should you need more tweaking than the base program can give.

I like my color munki because it can also profile printer paper/ink combinations as well as projectors. ( I didn't know there was a new one coming )

Monitor manufacterers will rarely tell you which calibration device to use. Probably because they don't want you to think that their monitors need any calibration. Photographers know better.

I like the Spyder3 line of products personally.

Second the spyder 3. And the only monitor that I have seen calibrated out of the box is the DELL Ultrasharp U2410.
