Default Lomo Effect

I've been trying out the Lomo effect using paintshop pro 8 and I've managed to do all the steps except the Lab Color Lightness. I've looked all through paintshop but I can't find anything similar and I'm not sure what the step does. Below is the before and after shots and as you can see the after is a bit dark. Is this because I've had to miss out the Lab Color step or will it be that dark anyway? And also if it's because of the Lab Color Lightness can anyone tell me what the equivalent step is in Paintshop?

Lomo Effect

Thanks and feel free to do any editing that you think will correct the problem.

I know you don't use photoshop or PS Elements but I use this Lomo action from the Coffeeshop Blog. She has some great actions!

I think this might be because I got a bit enthusiastic with the curves layer. I have redone and it has come out looking a bit better but I'd still like to know what effect the Lab Color Lightness would have if anyone can tell me. The tutorial I used is this one How To Make Digital Photos Look Like Lomo Photography

The download won't run on my laptop, I think it's because I don't have Photoshop or Elements, but thanks anyway

Hi Lynnda, I know you are not using photoshop at this time, but if you can have it, I like to share with you how I achieve Lomo Effect using adobe photoshop CS5, I will link you in my flickr for tutorials and for the direct website, hope it helps you.

with what you have done, lomo effect did not achieve, it just make underexposed with added vignette. to achieve lomo effect you need to increase the red tone and green tone, and increase the yellow highlights.

Another fun addition could be to try to convert it to a Hipstamatic look using a photoshop action. Try this free hipstamatic photoshop action
