Default Uprade from CS3 to CS5?

I really like CS3. I'm comfortable with it, and I know how to use it. However I used to use it more for modifying/creating images, now I use it to edit my photography when Lightroom isn't cutting it. Now I'm finding more things I wish I could do that I KNOW I can do in CS4 and CS5

I know CS4 was a memory hog, and I have to wonder if CS5 will be worse, as it has more features. A quick Google search gives very mixed results. I think I'm going to install the demo version and mess with it a bit, but I was hoping some PS masters would be able to shed some light on if it's really worth the upgrade

As for specifics for what I want out of CS5, there aren't many.. I'm just wondering if, in general, CS5 is better than CS3

Thanks in advance

Default Yes!

totally! I've used both extensively and the improvements from 3 to 5 are drastic. You will be fine transitioning from one to the other. There is a bit of a different look to things, but it's all the same overall in that respect. But the additional tools and abilities will really improve you photo processing! Just a fantastic program!

Well I installed the Demo and, maybe because it's a demo, it's taking up a little less than half the memory CS3 normally does (CS3 was pulling 150 megs and CS5 is at 80 megs right now)

It does look nice too. I'll mess with it some more, but so far I think I agree with you

BTW I like both of your sig quotes

Play with content-aware fill. That'll make you fork the cash over.

What is that and how do I use it?

I'm just amazed by the difference when using the clone stamp!! It's AMAZING how much easier it is to use when it auto-updates the selection area after each use. It was terrible to have to reselect every single time haha

Anyone know how to turn of the weird scrolling thing though? Like when you pan across an image while zoomed in and let go of the mouse, your image just kinda floats away haha

Content-aware fill. You'll never look at deleting in Photoshop the same way.

I upgraded from CS2 and was quite impressed with how much faster CS5 was, even on an older PC with a relatively small amount of memory. Adobe seems to have greatly improved performance with the later versions of Photoshop.

Oh, and the only difference between the demo version and the full version is that the demo version expires after 30 days. If the demo runs fine, the full version will too.

Haha that'd make sense

I wasn't too worried able it not being about to run, as my computer runs some pretty memory intensive games (like Crysis), but having Photoshop, Lightroom, and Firefox all open makes it kinda laggy, so I figured with CS5 it would be a bit worse
