Default Can I apply jpg camera settings to a raw file?

I took a photo on my Pentax K20D in both raw and jpg. When I look at the jpg, it is EXACTLY what I want colorwise, however I want to process the raw file to make other changes such as cropping and sharpness. I tried processing the raw file in photoshop CS5 but I cannot acheive the EXACT colors of the jpg that was generated by the camera. Is there any way to "copy" the color imformation from the camera-generated jpg to the xmp file that was created when I processed the raw file?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if this is right or will even help you but check to see what picture style your camera was set to when you took the picture. Then in CR click on the camera calibration tab, it's the one with a picture of a camera, and set it to whichever style your camera was set to. That's the first thing I do when I process RAW files. Sometimes I change it sometimes I stick with the default, but I always check that first. What did you try to make the colors match?

try using the native software that came with your camera - it should be able to apply the same adjustment as the jpg... though you`d have to read the manual to figure out how

Thanks for the reply AdrenoJunkie. Sorry I am so late with feedback. I am now trying to figure out how to enter my camera settings in the camera calibration. Any help on doing that would also be very much appreciated.

Open your image in Camera Raw. Go to the camera calibration tab, the one that's a picture of a camera. Click on the drop down menu that says Adobe Standard, then try any of the options there below Adobe Standard, those are the same settings that are in your camera. If you shoot in jpg then you use those settings in camera, if you shoot in raw then you have to choose the setting here.

Unless you are working on exposure, WB correction, or color correction you don't need to pp in RAW. Doing crops has no deleterious effect on a jpeg and gains you little by doing so in RAW. Sharpening is a final step and as long as you are working on a full size photograph it will have no deleterious effect on a jpeg.
