Question How to combine multiple photos in one layout

Is it possible to combine multiple photos into one layout with Lightroom? When I say "combine" I don't mean on top of each other to create one picture, but more like side to side (two portrait oriented photos next to each other for example). I see a lot of photographers doing this, especially when posting to their Facebook albums and I would like to know how to do this. I know LR has printing templates, but they all seem based on standard paper sizes and also require a margin around the edges. If this is not possible in LR, what software can I use to achieve this? Thank you!

They are probably using the contact sheet template and specifying to fit 4 photos to a 8x10 and printing to file. This will create a jpg contact sheet that will show on the web as one photograph.

You can adjust the paper size in LR and you can make it borderless as well. You can create a custom template and save the format for later use. You can select an image bigger than the template and resize by dragging the corners to also get you borderless. I'd bet there's even an existing template you could download.
You can output the image to a file rather than print it.

this is a 4x6 with two images w/out borders done in LR.
