Default how to shoot like picture in Vogue =_="

hihi... ^^

i have been portrait retouching for sometime, mostly more towards nature/japan style.

but i just can't figure out, how to retouch like vogue/skin care product ads where all the skin are 100% perfect with 100% skin texture...

i know use healing/burn/dodge with patience and small brush.

just..cant seem to look alike..

is there a certain 'skill' to achieve this kind of effect?

thanks.

i dunno, Gaussian blur filter maybe? i've never really tried skin-smoothing, it always ends up looking way too unnatural for me.

that first picture is AWFUL! looks like i could take my fingernail and scrape 1 pound of makeup off her entire face

I can't see the examples you provided because of the filter in place at work, but a quick way to start is to do a high pass sharpen layer, then go to color>invert on that layer. Then you can adust the opacity to taste, and add a layer mask and paint more detail back in.
Hope this helps!

the first picture is what ads are doing....the skin texture, awesome outcome for retouching,
but how to achieved?

i think gaussian blur or what ever filter will ruin the skin texture? ><"

did you mean you want to take photos like the first, and re-touch them to make them smoother? or is the cake-y bronze look something you want to reproduce in your own images?

The trick is to handle texture and color independently. I'm certainly not an expert in the technique, but this may be a good starting point: Anatomy of a Beauty Shot. It has some instructions, examples, and outside resources.

Well, having been a former makeup artist, that first shot partly looks like that because she DOES have a ton of makeup on! You could scrape a pound off. Actually it looks like airbrushed makeup in all of those photos, so that is part of it.

A lot of models' photographs are enhanced by plug-ins such as Portraiture and Portrait Professional.
