Smile Standard work flow for LR3

I'm a Novice hobbyist and just recently got Adobe LR3. I just want to know how you guys post process your images using this. I just want to know how to do a proper sharpening of an image so I can get a better image out of an already good one. There's a lot of tabs to work with and for now all I use in "Develop" is everything under the Basic Tab. I want to know how to use the "Detail" tab where you can sharpen a part of the image but not the whole thing using the masks, radius, detail etc. Thanks guys esp to those who always respond to my posts!

So just looking at the sharpening function... Use the magbnifier window to view a crtical area of the image, for example the eye. Slide your sharpen slider to the right, you will get to a point where it looks bad - oversharpened, grainy. back off a tad...then the KEY to the sharpening is the masking. While holding down the option key on a mac or control key on a pc, click and drag the masking slider to the right. The image will start off all white (white reviels, black conceals)..as you slide to the right more black comes into play and you'll stop when only your edges and the areas you want sharpened are white and the rest black. bam. thats all i do. I almost always leave the other sharpening sliders alone.

You can also sharpen with the brush which is nice when you want to apply localize sharpening, like to the eyes for example.

What a coincidence -- I'm trying to sort through the same thing myself. Here are a couple links I found that have been helpful so far:

My Updated Lightroom 3 Workflow Tyler Stableford : News

Cadillac Mountain Fall – Acadia National Park – Adobe Lightroom RAW Development Process » Robert H Clark Photography Blog

I'm doing my best to keep track of these as I go on my links page.
