I calibrated my Asus PA246 IPS monitor with Spyder3 Elite and I'm not sure it calibrated correctly. After my calibration all website seems dark and videos. What I do notice that when I go to a photography website the pictures looks almost prefect with no over exposures in white and also I can see details where there are white.
It is also normal for the white to be kinda yellowish? For example, google.com main page is basically all white except for the logo, "Google" to me that white on my calibrated IPS monitor looks more yellowish than my LCD screen. I do run dual screen both calibrated but I use the IPS for photo editing.

Well, I set it to 90 cdm/2 which what Sypder3 told me to during calibration.

I'm no expert on this topic but just wanted to say that my monitor has a yellow cast after eyeballing the calibration to match the prints I got form the local lab. (I hope to get the tool someday to do a proper calibration but the eyeballing is actually working pretty well for now.) I have different settings for different purposes but mostly use the new yellowish setting and have gotten used to it. My prints look 100 times better.

The spyder3 program also check my room ambient light and also check the light of my monitor and had me adjust it to 90 cdm
I forgot what my room ambient light was but I shut off the lights, I think it was about 80 to 100 cdm, I forgot. It said that the ambient light in my room was good enough for press prints.

I would just try re-calibrating with the lights on. For a while I was too caught up in calibration and it will stress you out unnecessarily. See how your images look on other calibrated monitors and then you can re-evaluate yours. I also use the Spyder3 pro panel when I calibrate since it has more options. There are a few settings that will make a big difference in there so try that. Good luck!

Could just be that you're used to retina-searing brightness.
