Default Posters

Hey, new photographer here with a few questions. Ok so im planning on taking photos for an event and my client would like 3 of them in poster format. Im using a D5000 and am a little confused.
1. Can I print the raw images from my camera in highest resolution on a poster size WITHOUT being pixelated? (36x54)
2. What website offers poster prints of 30x50 for 40 dollars or less
3. I checked out zazzle.com. They said I can print 3 of my posters for 9.95 each. I want to know if this is true and if anybody has printed from this site and has received a good poster

Thank you in advance .

1.) You can't print raw images. Pixelated is subjective. Personally, I don't like to go below 100 dpi if I can help it. The D5000 is 4,288 x 2,848 at most, so, with 30x50 (which is not a standard aspect ratio) you would be at about 85 dpi -- pretty bad to me.

2. 24" x 36" is a much more common "poster" size. You can find frames in that size much more easily. With this size, you would be at 118 dpi, which will look a lot better than 30x50.

3. never heard of zazzle. I use mpix because I always get great results. The biggest I've printed is 16x24 so I can't speak for the 24x36 print. But they have 24x36 for $45.

Math is correct. But if you can find a printer with Photoshop and Alien Skin's Blow up plugin they can use your largest TIFF file to make a large poster such as you want. As for Zazzle, don't know never heard of them. Jim

Zazzle is an interesting site, and some of their stuff is pretty good, but I've never had posters printed. They do mainly fabric stuff (t-shirts et al).

You may want to look into Illustrator, and see about transferring your photo into vector. The system should let you do it very very accurately, but you'll need a supercomputer to run it.

What are you wanting your poster printed on?

I print large pictures at 250 dpi (24" X 36"), on photo paper with eco solvent ink all the time. If not viewed from 6" they look great.

Most poster printers will take any picture format (other than raw of course). Let me know if I can help you out!
