Default Saving Pics for Web

Ok this is probably the most basic question anyone has ever asked. but...

Everytime I try and upload a pic to the web it comes out looking grainy or hideously fuzzy, when in fact the picture is crystal clear in photoshop.

I had been given some instructions on how to save them for the web, but no matter what I try they end up looking bad, and not like any other photographer's blogs I find on the net.

Any suggestions as to what I could be doing wrong?

Smile Saving images for the web

There is not really a quick answer for this issues. In Photoshop- the first thing you will need to do is make sure your monitor is calibrated so the colors you are producing on the screen match the profiles you are shooting. Then you will need to proof the colors or set your workspace colors to "sRGB." Then you can proceed to edit the image. Will most definitely want to change the DPI to 72 and then for the pixel dimensions, depending on the blog- they will most likely give you dimensions to follow. 700 on the long side is usually a safe bet. Once you have done all of this go to File>Save for Web.You are going to want to look in your Photoshop manual about all the different options you have with the 'save for the web" option. This is just a starting point as this could get complicated.

Actually within photoshop's save for web window you can resize your image there, and it will automatically reduce the DPI to 72, thus eliminating 2 steps mentioned above IMHO a calibrated monitor is more for print output, once the image is on the web it's a crap shoot how it will render colorwise on users monitors, as most won't be calibrated anyway
