Default How to get Florabella type effects?

I am at a loss as to where to start. I would love to learn to get the efects like those in the Florabella actions esp Sugar and Blush. I want to learn to do my own actions and don't want to get lazy and just buy them.

Can anyone put me on the right track? I have LR and CS5.

TIA

have you checked out coffeeshop actions?
The CoffeeShop Blog

There are a lot of cool actions and presets...and they are free!! (donation requested).
You will have to spend some time navigating around to find all of them she has created and shared.

Once you see how some of the actions and presets are created you should be able to build your own!

I didn't click that link but I was going to suggest CoffeeShop too. Also, The Pioneer Woman has some free actions for photoshop on her website....I LOVE her actions and use them all the time.

For both the Sugar and Blush actions, duplicate the layer, set it to screen mode, and desaturate that layer. Play around with the opacity, and merge down. The blush action looks like it uses an exclusion mask layer, or a soft light layer as well. This should get you started if you want to reverse engineer these actions.

Fantastic thank you Luke. I am not quite there either in photographic ability or pp skills - but now there are endless opportunities - weeee heeee.
