I just discovered batch processing for resizing since I had about 40 photos I needed to resize and convert to 72dpi ... it worked great ... except ... there were a couple of pictures that didn't end up in the final folder! I started with 40 pics and ended with 38 ... one picture in particular kept opening in RAW (they were all jpgs!) and I didn't know how to proceed and couldn't see how it was different from the others ... any ideas?

Yes I guess it would! CS4 ... I created an action for the above and followed instructions for batch processing ...

Do you use bridge at all? I don't recall ever having a problem where the files didn't all output to the right folder.
I have an action for making images all 72ppi that I use in combination with the image processor in Bridge to resize. Just make sure when you are creating the action, that when you are changing the ppi in Image Size that you uncheck Resample Image. This will change the ppi to 72 in PS, but not resize the image. If you do use Bridge, go to Tools>Photoshop>Image Processor. Here you have all the photos you selected and can output them all at the same size, ppi, and folder. |

I did it through photoshop itself, not Bridge - but I will try Bridge next time ... will check the resample thing -- don't know if it was checked or unchecked ...

What I like about using Bridge is that I can use it with the action is PS to take a wide group of photos at various sizes and then make them all 72ppi and then set the pixels for the largest size whether it is a landscape or portrait. Great for batch processing a ton of photos for the web.

So after you make them all 72dpi do you do two separate batch processes for resizing - one for portrait and one for landscape? I can't think of any other way to do it ...

When using image processor in Bridge, you can tell it to perform an action during the process. You can also tell it to resize all the images. So using Image Processor combined with the action is great. Let's say for example that I wanted all images to be 720 on the longest size portrait or landscape, I tell it to export as jpeg with a max width of 720 and max height of 720. The way image processor works is that it would only make the max side of the image 720. It will NOT make it square and squished. This way I can make all images of any position at a specific size.

Great tip! Thanks ...I was wondering how to do that in one fell swoop ...
