Default exif info

Whenever I alter a photo on my pc I cant access any exif info..Is this normal or is there a way to preserve the info?

Software will usually have an option "Save to web". This will strip your exif to save on file size. You can use the "Save as" button & it should save the exif.

@ digidave,
Many thanks for the reply...when I use photostudio software on my pc and use "save as" as suggested it keeps the info.cheers..If I use a web editor...fotoflexer then I lose the info.
Looks like I'll need to invest in another photo editor but not photoshop...too complicated for a hobbyist...fotoflexer is ideal for me but no good for the info
