Need help with PS editing

Hi,
Can someone please direct me to a Photoshop tutorial, on how to remove the peeling dead skin from the below photo?
I tried healing tool in photoshop, but the result doesn't look nice.

Looking at the picture your main problems are you need to add colour to the area, and then remove the contrast at the edges of the skin area that you just fixed.

Theres numerous ways to do this one is to use a feathered selection and apply curves adjustment layers for each section to fix the colour, you could also sample a colour from a good area of skin and add a solid colour layer set to colour and mask it to the areas you need colour in.
And then dodge and burn to even out the contrast.

You could use the clone and healing tools which will adjust colour and contrast in one adjustment.

You could also look at frequency separation which enables you to sample textures and colour separately on different layers enabling you to fix the colour and contrast separately.

Would be great to hear which way you go and how it turns out

I couldn't figure out how to make the feathered selection to work. So I gave clone stamp and healing tool a try and here's the result.
