Default Color Space?

I'm not really sure whats happening to my images.

I mainly process using Lightroom and have never had any problems with the color after.

I'm working on my cousin's Save the Date mail outs. I noticed that the color shift/change happens after I fiddle with it using photoshop. The only thing I'm doing on photoshop is adding text, resize image and attach to template that the Card company provided.

After using PS, I notice some of the images gets darker, has either blue or pink hue.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for responding quickly.

I noticed the template that the company provided uses cmyk, says right on the template on text.

When I try to save, theres no option to save as sRGB.

Only: Use Proof Setup: Working cmyk

or

Embedded Color Profile:US Web Coated (SWOP)

I've been leaving the SWOP box checked.

You can change the image from RGB to CMYK (and vice versa) by going to Image > Mode.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Did I already say thank you? lol
The images looks better.

I noticed the file size is smaller when I switched to sRGB, will that affect the quality of the image when printed to its actual size?

sRGB will show nearly all colours captured by your camera CMYK which is what your printing in is smaller so you wont loose anything by saving in sRGB especialy since you came from CMYK to start from. Quality wise if its the same amount of pixels then the quality will be the same to.

Your camera’s color space should be set to Adobe RGB.

Color settings should be synchronized across all Adobe applications. You can do this via Adobe Bridge: Click Edit menu, “Creative Suite Color Settings”. If you do not have the Creative Suite then set each color space individually.

You should set your LR preferences for “External Editing” to TIFF, ProPhoto RGB, 16 bits/component, with no compression.

When going directly to PS (command E) for editing a photo previously adjusted in Lightroom a dialogue box should appear. Click “Edit copy with LR adjustments.”

After you have edited your photos in both PS and LR, go to “Library” mode in LR and export in sRGB @ 300 ppi. This is acceptable for most photo printing labs. In Europe RGB web colour space is converted to sRGB. CMYK is for the 4 colour printing process for say a book. A CMYK file will not print the same as an sRGB.

When in doubt, ask the printer what color space they want you to use.

Thanks again for the responses.

My cousin went ahead and ordered the copies with the CMYK. The printing company's template notes CMYK @ 300ppi on it.

I did redo the set and saved them as sRGB but I was too late.

I'm just crossing my fingers that they come out decent.

They're printing save the date magnets, sizes are 5.59 x 4.33. The info might be irrelevant but I think I'm just rambling since I'm worried. Have 7-10 business days wait to see the results.

Ok I'm a lil confused...My camera should be set to Adobe RGB(which according to the bottom of the screen in RAW, it is), and when I save I should save in sRGB? When I save it saves in the ICC AdobeRGB. When I go to Mode it has an option for RGB(which is selected) but no Adobe or s with it. Do I need to change anything? When I open file info it says the color space is uncalibrated, is that important? Also my camera takes pictures at 240ppi, if I save at 300ppi will it affect my image quality?...Sorry for hijacking the thread.

RAW files dont have a colour space they can be loaded into any colour space you are using, you set your working colour space in your graphics software so you can choose a wider colour space like aRGB or Pro-photo as your working with 12/14 Bit files but becareful with wider spaces.

As for exporting if exporting to JPEG sRGB is probably more desireable for web and standard printing.

As for the 300DPI I dont think it wont improve image quality as you cant add details that are not there to images, the only time I would upsize something is if its a big enlargement and I feel I can do a better job than the print drive. But you will hear different things from different people and its personal opinion theres no right or wrong answer.
