im pretty new to taking pictures with a DSLR and have a printing question. whenever i go to have it printed it requires to crop out a huge part of the picture. is there a setting i need to be changing when i export my pictures, i generally use lightroom? or is there a setting i should be changing on my camera? im taking pictures for a friend of the family and i really want them to come out nice but not have to try to frame the picture knowing a big chunk is being cropped out. any help would be awesome!

Hope this helps. All photos come out in various sizes. You can not change that in the camera ect. So when you go have your images printed you should always decide up front what sizes you would like to have printed. If you have photoshop, you open up the crop tool, put the size in the box at top that says what size you need, and it will guide you as to how that size will effect your particular photo. Some times you will NOT be able to print the size you want, because it just will not fit properly. There is one way to get a size you want, but that recquires some know how. In photoshop, you can create a blank document with the size you need, then drag your photo on top of it and make it fit. Your photo will have left over space if this is the trick you are doing, but if it is the size you need, it works. I find the majority of times my photos do not fit properly. Unfortuantely the sizes were set up for FILM. Many online printers will show you a guide so you know up front how your image will look in that size. Hope this helps!
I know it is irratating, but it is How it IS.
