Default Color Fringing on edges between people and sky

So the background here is that I had my mom take a picture of my wife and I on the Willis Tower Sky Deck (Cool but barely worth the $16 per person and 1 1/2 line). You can see what came out in the original photo (both original and edit are attached including comparison shot).

So since I thought it was a pretty cool picture I have been trying to make it as acceptable as possible, and I feel that I've gotten very close to that. The problem I've run into, which I have no idea how to fix, is this Green/Purple line outlining people against the sky. It reminds of me 80s movies before they really had the whole green screen thing worked out perfectly.

What I've mainly done is a lot of tinkering with Exposure, Fill Light, Blacks, and Recovery then I tweaked the luminance detail and smoothing to kill some noise. This was all in Lightroom by the way. If you need a detailed list I can provide that later.

Thanks in advance!

I pulled down the full-sized version of the photo and tried some touch-ups in Aperture.

I set the noise reduction radius to 1.99 but the noise reduction edge detail to 0. This softened up the line considerably between you & your wife and the background sky. Also tweaked the chromatic aberration a bit to help either reduce or blend what remained of the line between you two and the background.

However, the purple fringing around the face of the out-of-focus guy on the far left I couldn't manage to remove with adjustments in Aperture. This may have to be a crop job.

try this. adjust in levels the image. duplicate layer lighten a bit and wit quick mask brush away with small soft brush the lighter parts to reveal the darker sky. be careful in brushing the edges of the persons. adjust the hardness and softness of the brush according to the edge of the persons. fine tune with dodge and burn.
