Default Missing Pixels!?

I accidentally posted this in another section when I saw the description of "software" but now think this is the best section to post this in since it leans towards post processing.

I wonder if anyone else has run into this problem do you have a solution? If you look at the image (attached) you'll notice that the aspect ratio is 1.498 instead of 3:2 and also if you look closely at the bottom of the image there is black edges to the image.

I don't know if this is because I'm using ufRAW and GIMP or if it's because my camera is taking the shot with an unusual pixel count for some reason.

The original RAW image can be downloaded here if someone wouldn't mind testing it in their own software - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1068102/IMG_3356.CR2

It looks like your RAW processor. I opened it in ACR and there aren't any missing pixels. And at 4272 x 2848 pixels, exactly 3:2.

3:2 IS 1.5. 1.498 is close enough as to make no difference.

3:2 is a ratio, in which side A is 1.5 times that of side B. That's where the 1.498 comes from.

How this is expressed depends on how its being played with.

1:1 ratio: 1
5:4 ratio: 1.25
3:2 ratio: 1.5
16:9 ratio: 1.77!

The further away you get from 1, the further away from square you get.

No problems.

Thanks, I'll check down that road.

Thanks. I understood the ratios issue. My point was that when this happens (if you check the attachment) there are "missing pixles" or blackness in the image - see the bottom of the image on the left and right side.

Strange, but looks like your software.
