OK, I have just bought my first DSLR. A Canon T1i. I was told @ the camera shop that I can do large image prints (up to a 16 x 20, I think) with this camera. I took pics with the camera in Hi-Res setting. Edits done in Lightroom. Found Winkflash.com to do prints.(don't know much about them or anyone else for that matter) I uploaded an image to see about a canvas. It says my image is Low-Res and I am not about to take a risk on printing something & it turn out blurry. Does anyone know what I am missing here? I even shot a test RAW image (which I also know nothing about) and edited it in LR and it said Low-Res as well.
I am frustrated!!! How am I going to figure this out?? I NEED SERIOUS ADVICE PLEASE! Thanks!

Second what Teaking is asking: What is the output size of the image?
LR has the ability to downsample images straight on export, saving you a step in the long run if yourte just publishing to web. For print, though, you want the most resolution you can get.

Welll..........here's the thing........
I am only using a free trial version of LR @ the moment....don't know about exporting the images, yet. I uploaded them to my FB, and then saved them to my computer from there. I don't know how else to save my edited images to my computer using LR. If you can offer any help on this, I would greatly appreciate it. I only have a couple weeks left on my trial and then I will most likely go to a PS program. I simply cannot afford (especially after buying the camera) to pay out 400-500 bucks on the software right now.So.... how do I get around this issue which seems to be the reason my images are low-res? Thanks for your replies!!!

Don't use the facebook publish function...Select the image and go to menu>file>export the file settings will then pop up. (or use rt click>export)

When you uploaded them to FB, they were automatically scaled down (some or a lot) for web viewing, and then pulling them down to your computer is where you are making the mistake...
Take a look at gimp for pp.(free) I use Ifranview (free to use) to quickly "saveas" different formats and/or downsizing..would not use it to pp though. It will open canon raw's to view as well.. ![]() I would think even the trial version of LR would let you "saveas" a tiff or even a jpeg.. |

F1 (Funtion 1) or Menu/Help takes you to Lightroom help screens ( you need to be on line)
When there just read through the sections under Exporting Photos. or It is: (1) Menu/File/Export (2) You will need to select a destination (3) File settings to: JPG 100% Srgb Do not resize your images. That's it.

I don't know about what's shipped with Canon cameras, but I received a RAW converter and a picture organizer with my Sony.
May they are not the best software around, but they'll do the job without extra expense. |

YAY!!! I have it figured out! So I took the previous comments & discovered how to first, look for help in LR & second - EXPORT! When I exported them, I was able to upload to a printing service without the MEAN "Low-Res" warning! Now, after doing this, I have discovered I need a MUCH bigger Flash drive, but nonetheless, I have resolved my issues, with all the thanks to those that responded to my distress call!
Hopefully, I will eventually put my camera to work earning cash doing the thing I love almost as much as my children!!! |

Flash drive is temporary storage, not to be used for backups or long-term storage of images. You want a proper hard drive for that.
