Found this photo on Flickr and am quite interested in how it was done. I am aware of the overdone painting colour onto black and white technique, but it seems this has been done by isolating one colour. I tried isolating all but the reds in a photo I had taken but couldnt get as nice a result as this. Any hints would be great, sorry if this question has been posted a hundred times.

This ia painted on using various selections in postwork. The hard-edges are pen tool selections, the softer-edged areas are one of many other kinds of selections. Its a lot of work and, frankly, not all that great unless you;re doing it for effect (think the Sin City movie)

There was another similar thread earlier on DPS about this.
Make Photo's POP Using Selective Colouring! Basically, it involves selecting the color you want to keep, inverting the selection and desaturating the rest. However, in the tutorial, the color he wants to keep is one continuous part of the image. I don't know if this will work when the color you want to keep is in multiple locations.
