How would I go about and do this?

I want to take a picture like in the attached images...
Don't care if its photoshopped, i want to know how to do this

looks to me like 2 images photoshopped. I1 being the candle /wick and the other a drop of water shot in macro, then inverted and pasted onto the wick, create a new gradient background in photoshop and remove any exisiting background from the candle and drop. I could be totally off base, but it could be done fairly simple in photoshop

I'm quite certain it is photoshop (which is why I've moved it to post-processing and printing... "How I Took it" is for explaining how you took a photo).

So, this brought to mind an article I read a little while ago: Aquatopiary: The Photo Trick that Sculpts Water into Shapes | Photojojo

Mainly because my thought is that they got the water how they wanted, then used a similar post-processing technique to this to put that water on the (unlit) candle in a way that makes it look like a flame.
