Default Question for Lightroom Users

I've read a couple of tutorials/quick overviews on DPS about workflow in LR. Both listed setting WB as one of the last steps when working with RAW images in the development module.

From a lot of other reading I've done, I was always under the impression that setting the correct WB was the first thing you do, before adjusting exposure, brightness, etc etc.

I always shoot in RAW with AWB and adjust it myself in LR.

So I'm just wondering what other users of LR do, what your thoughts on when to set the correct WB is?

Or does it matter?

Tks for any and all input.

I tend to work "down" the panes on the rt side...wb is at the top, sharpening at the bottom...I think it's set up this way for a reason. (?) Makes sense to me.

"Always" adjust the white balance first. You can't make accurate adjustments to anything else if the white ballance isn't right first.

WB is probably the first thing I do... mostly since it's first in the "list". Cropping might nudge its way on the first spot but that's about it.

I work my way usually from larger (more visible) edits to smaller ones.

My thoughts are that you really can't adjust vibrancy and all those other things before the white balance. You'd just have to adjust them again after correcting the WB. That's just how I do things and it works for me.

White balance is typically the second thing you do, right after croping.

That was my thinking too.

Again, this is what I was thinking. If you adjust brightness, vibrancy, etc etc and then set WB, you just have to go back and do all those adjustments again.

Thanks to all for the replies, you've confirmed what I thought all along.

Just makes me wonder why the write-ups I've read suggest setting WB at the end. I questioned the first one I read but received no reply. When I read it again the other day I decided to pose the question here.

Cheers....

Yeah. WB is usually the first thing I do (if I didn't get it right in-camera)
