As pointed by others, LR is awesome to organize your photos and do all basic retouching required for photographic type of work.. Ex. color corrections, exposure, organizing photos, filtering, ranking, batch rename/export, side by side comparison, etc. I haven't tried but the adjustment brush in LR seems little overwhelming to learn. I use PS for such processing steps.

PS as you know is more powerful when it comes to editing and special effects for your individual photos.

I used the older version of ViewNX which did excellent conversion of my SOOC NEF files to JPG. However, it was crashing way too much for me so I stopped. I have downloaded their latest ViewNX but haven't played around much with it.. How is the organizing part of ViewNX?
