I took this picture yesterday..
![]() I'm wondering weather I should leave the black borders or not? How do you decide weather to add borders in your picture? How do you choose which color? |

I used a black border in the past, which contained the title of the photo and some copyright info. After a while I grew tired of it, and now I'm uploading with a "watermark" on the photo, without border.
I chose either black or white, mostly black. For high-key photos I used a white border.

I used to add borders, until I realized several things:
- Most photo sharing sites have good borders already (i.e. white or black space around the image) - The border usually looks like a gimmick - As a result, the border takes focus AWAY from the image itself. I recommend not bothering with a border. Also, if you print yoru photos, a mat will act like a border, and do the job better.

I'm a new guy here. I've uploaded a couple pictures from flickr (no border there) and they have a magenta border which I pretty much don't like. I've noticed that some of the other images here have blue, some black and some no border. How do you specify that.
Thanks..................Bill |
