Default How is this effect created?

I just ran into this picture:

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4033/...9fb8cf2d_b.jpg

and I'm really curious as to how that effect is created. I tried messing with WB, overexposing, etc, but I can't seem to recreate it.. Is it photoshop? Is it straight out of the camera?

Either way, does anyone know how to get this effect? I see it a lot on flickr, but I can't find any tutorial on it.

Thanks.

I think that's the Vintage effect. In Aperture 3, the option is available as a Color preset. Hope that helps.

I have to agree it does look over exposed which was either done when shooting or in processing.

As for the colours I would guess they are produced using curves, if you go into a curves adjustment you will notice you can select R G and B seperately and by editing these it causes colour shifts this technique is used to digitaly simulate cross processing.

I would suggest searching cross processing with google there are a lot of interesting techniques for photoshop

contrast reduction - Use a curve to flatter the contrast or as rider suggested use a saturation adjustment and increase the lightness of the color.

Color Balance - Looks like some color balancing was done to give it a soft warm yellow feeling.
